2011 Battle of the Bluegrass Pulling Series
Press Releases

October 31, 2011 (Louisville, KY)
3
rd Annual Battle of the Bluegrass Pulling Series Banquet Highlights

2011 Championship Banquet PhotosThe 3rd Annual Battle of the Bluegrass Pulling Series(BOB Series) was held last night at the Butler State Park in Carrollton, Kentucky.  “Over 100 people attended the Banquet and great time was had by all.”, said BOB Series President Kevin Fulks.  “2011 was a great year for the BOB Series and it was a joy to highlight all the fun we had this past year.” Commented Fulks.

2011 was an historic year for the BOB Series.  “2011 was a year for the record books.” Said BOB Series CEO Tom McConnell.  “History was made three times, and it was great to highlight the achievements of the pullers.” Commented McConnell.

The first history maker was Jake Fryman.  Jake is the first puller to win an unbelievable 13 wins in a single season.  Jake beat the record held by Jerry Sipes in the Light Limited Super Stock Tractor class, which was 11 wins in a single season.  Jerry went on to win 11 times in 2011, tying his record, but John Swartzentruber ended up winning 12 times this year, and Jake Fryman went on to win his 13th win at the last pull of the year, being held in Williamstown, KY on October 15, 2011.  “I don’t know if I will have another year like 2011, but I will try again in 2012.” Commented Fryman.

History was also made in the Light Limited Super Stock Tractor class.  Jerry Sipes is the first puller to win three consecutive back to back championships in his class.  “I want to thank God and my family for all their help in making this championship title happen this year.” Said Jerry Sipes.

Yet more history was made in 2011, as Greg Lamb is the only puller in BOB Series history to win two separate classes at the same event.  On July 31, 2011, Greg Lamb won the Outlaw Super Farm class in Williamstown, KY on his “Black Viper” John Deere.  He also won the 10,000 Hot Farm Tractor class that night with his “Fruit Salad” John Deere.  Greg went on the win the points in the 10,000 Hot Farm.  This is his second BOB Series Points Title in two years, as his “Black Viper” won the Outlaw Super Farm points in 2010.

The top pullers in each class were also reward the BOB Series signature “Big Check” awards.  The “Big Checks” had the total monies that each driver won throughout the year.  “The BOB Series will continue to be the highest paying organization in the region.” Commented BOB Series CEO Tom McConnell.  “We will be increasing our purses to the drivers in 2012.” Said McConnell.

A rules meeting took place before the banquet.  Pullers that did not attend are urged to contact their class spokesmen to voice any concerns regarding rules for the 2012.
