2010 Battle of the Bluegrass Pulling Series
Press Releases

November 24, 2010
The Orange Blossom Returns!

The Battle of the Bluegrass Pulling Series(BOB Series) is proud to announce that the legendary Allen Gaines and his world famous Orange Blossom Special will be returning to the track at the upcoming Bluegrass Super Pull, being held December 10-11, 2010 at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park.  “We are so pleased to have the world’s most famous wheel standing puller back on the track.” Commented BOB Series CEO Tom McConnell.  “This truck hasn’t been out in over two years and we are so glad that Allen Gaines and the Orange Blossom Special are back on the track.” Said McConnell.

Allen Gaines, from Georgetown, Kentucky, is one of the most legendary pullers of all time.  In 1977, he debuted his stretched Super Modified 4WD truck to the world, winning several championships with the United States Hot Rod Truck Pullers, as well as being the truck to bet in that class.  The original Orange Blossom Special will be pulling an exhibition run on Saturday after the Outlaw Diesel Trucks pull.  “The Diesel will be weighing 7500lbs and I will be weighing 6500lbs, but I am going to try to catch them.”, commented Allen Gaines.

In 1983, Allen Gaines debut the 1937 Chevrolet known as the Orange Blossom Special.  It was the first exhibition wheel stander in the sport of pulling.  On Friday and Saturday night of the Bluegrass Super Pull, the Orange Blossom Special will hook to the sled, and will pull with the wheels up all the way down the track.  The truck was so popular at one time, that it became the first pulling vehicle that was sold nationwide as a toy and model set.  It has been seen over 10,000 times on ESPN.  “I built this truck to put on a one of kind show, and there is nothing like it anywhere.” Commented Gaines.

The Orange Blossom Special is just one part of a massive show that will take place December 10-11, 2010 at the Kentucky Horse Park.  Over 200 pullers have been entered in this event, with several states represented.  Classes to run include four classes of Diesel Trucks, Light Wt. and Light Limited Super Stock Tractors, Pro Farm Tractors, Super Modified 2WD Trucks, Super Modified 4WD Trucks, Pro Stock 4WD Trucks, Outlaw Super Farm Tractors, and others are all apart of the largest sanctioned pulling event in Kentucky.
