Blast From The Past- Preserving the Heritage of Pulling’s History
Since 1929, the sport of pulling has become a national and international pastime. From its beginnings of farmers taking their tractors out of the fields and pulling a weighted sled, the sport pulling has come a long way. As is the case in many sports, sometimes the unique heritage of a sport’s beginnings often get overlooked.
In order to preserve our strong and historic pulling heritage, the Battle of the Bluegrass is now offering its Heritage Series. This series features the classic tractors of yesteryear that gave birth to the sport of what we know today.
The Battle of the Bluegrass Heritage Series will host several prominent events throughout the rest of the year.  Kicking off the 2017 pulling season was the Bluegrass Antique Super Pull, held at Richmond Kentucky on March 3-4.  This flagship event hosted over 500 hooks held within two days, becoming the largest event of it’s kind in the world and it’s getting bigger each year.
The antique tractor events are spread throughout the Battle of the Bluegrass pulling season and include the following events. These events are for the Antique 5200lb 8MPH Tractors (from 1959 and older) class and are not invitational, which means they are open to the world! The winner of these events will be invited and automatically qualify to compete for the World’s Baddest Antique Tractor title at the 2018 Bluegrass Antique Super Pull in Richmond KY, March 2018.
